Sorry, Phoenix, that's REAL bad.

Sorry GKJ but that's way off the mark.
If you're going to play these kind of games then the Coyotes have actually done better because Gauthier and Sapyrykin were both 1st rounders plus they got several years out of Langkow on top.
1st + 2nd for Langkow for 1st + 1st
Now Jeff Carter is an excellent prospect but the Coyotes did not trade him. The Flyers made a good choice - credit to them. Coyote fans would do the trade again in a split second and so would Flyer fans. Its called a good trade where both sides got better.
Carter has not helped the Flyers for one second of NHL time. By contrast Langkow has been one of the most overworked centers in the NHL and contributing 60+ goals and 150+ points in the last 3 years. He has helped Ladislav Nagy and Mike Johnson progress from shakey 4th liners to very solid top 6 guys. That line actually became the Coyotes best ever line in statistical terms. Indeed the Coyotes were astonishingly successful in Langkow's first year, making the playoffs against all expectations. No wonder they didnt expect the pick to be 11th overall.
So from the Coyotes perspective they dealt two solid prospects (and three years later we still dont know if they will even make it - neither prospect has contributed anything at all) for a Langkow who was their top line center for 3 years, contributing a load of points and helping develop other players. Now they've traded Langkow for two more NHL guys who will be making important contributions next year. It certainly was not a REAL bad trade. It was a pretty ideal trade.. Langkow was redundant on the Flyers so they could afford to trade him for future potential while the Coyotes could afford to trade future potential for NHL-ready players now.
BTW you're also wrong on the management not changing. It started out as Cliff Fletcher making the deals with Barnett only gradually taking control.
