Prospect Hurt

As per Mike Boone @ http://habsinsideout.com/main/17363

Alexei Yemelin's season is over.

The highly-touted Russian
defenceman, a second-round draft choice of the Canadiens in 2004, was
pounded out by giant Alexander Svitov in a Russian league playoff game
on Saturday night.

As reported by Marc De Foy of
Ruefrontenac.com, Yemelin, who plays for AK Bars Kazan, suffered a
broken nose, a mild concusiion and a left eye injury that will require
surgery.

Svitov a 6'4", 230-pound behemoth selected third
overall by Tampa Bay, behind Ilya Kovalchuk and Jason Spezza, in the
2001 draft was suspended for four games by the KHL.

Playing without Svitov, Avangard Omsk was eliminated by AK Bars Kazan last night. Oleg Petrov yes, THAT Oleg Petrov scored the winning goal in OT.
