Actually, when the playoffs rolled around and games became important, Gretz would often go so far on the back check that he would actually know if it was Fuhr or Moog in net. When he was really into it, he would even try to hit someone. They turned the corner towards being champs when they learned how to play at both ends, with the pivotal game being the 1-0 win against the Islanders in their first SCF win.
I saw Hemsky sliding to block a puck against Minny, right after Gagner did the same thing. Is Hemsky seeing his star power being diminished by the emerging Gagner, a kid who has bought into the MacT defensively responsible game?
I said a couple of weeks ago that Hemsky looked like he had to be either hurt or pouting, because his play didn't look nearly as passionate as normal. Either way this team has to find a way to get his head straightened out. Without him, they are screwed.
