That isnt true. No matter how good or bad you are if you play a man down for most of the game you arent going to win. Especially against a team with as much talent as pittsburgh. You give a team like Pittsburgh 9 power plays and that much puck possesion they will find a way to score. Although they didnt have a PPG the first goal was scored 14 seconds after a penalty ended. You lose all your rythm and momentum when you are killing penalties. Plus some of your big guns, Antropov, Zherdev and Naslund dont get ice time. And the ones who do arent able to make anything happen. Pittsburgh is nearly impossible to beat in the Igloo if they are getting close to 20 minutes of power play time.
Anyway, Henrik Lundqvist has proved himself in the NHL as a top goaltender in the world and is not the top of guy who usually makes excuses. Crosby has to be treated the same way as Avery no matter what you think of them or their pasts. If Crosby trips someone or hits someone from behind he should get a penalty, so should anyone else. If Avery is hit from behind or tripped or slashed that player should go to the box.
