OR you could argue that the roster could be even better with Crosby.
And winning the cup doesn't necessarily mean that you have "Several young stars" it could very well mean Poti, Nylander, Holik and Jagr play like Greek God's.
The question also never said anything about this current roster winning it all {that's something even else implied themselves}.
It's actually not quite as black and white as you want to make it my friend.
We could win a cup thanks to the vets and then spend the next 15 years in misery. OR we could get Crosby, not win it this year but stand a chance to win it for the next 15.
It all comes down if your gambling man. Would you be okay with one cup and potentially little else, or would you want to try for more but not have the gurantee of one.
So maybe those who voted for Crosby aren't idiots, maybe they gave it a bit more thought than you did and decided to try for a different approach.
