Defenseman Ryan Parent accompanied the team to New York for Thursday's game against the Rangers despite a groin pull he suffered in the second period Tuesday against Florida. He may or may not play. Given the Flyers are already nicked on defense with Randy Jones' right hip bothering him again, it seems it would be more prudent for the club to rest Parent these final three games so he's healthy for the playoffs. Just look at the mess a groin injury caused Danny Briere this season. "I feel better, I did some rehab this morning and we'll see how it feels [Thursday]," Parent said about playing. "If I feel good, I'm sure I'll play." Parent said he would allow the training staff to make the call, but the Flyers often listen to their own players. If Parent has any soreness at all, he'd be better off not skating in New York or playing. "If I'm feeling good, I obviously want to be playing," he said. General manager Paul Holmgren said he would lean toward advice from trainer Jim McCrossin as to Parent's playing status.
