If defenseman Luca Sbisa's junior club is eliminated, he still can't rejoin the Flyers until the playoffs. Why? The Flyers don't have enough cap space. The Flyers have $730,000 in space, but Sbisa earns $875,000. Also, if Sbisa plays one more game this season (his 40th) he becomes a free agent two years sooner (age 25) as a penalty under the CBA. Once the playoffs begin, none of this matters. Given Parent's and Jones' injuries, Sbisa could have a major impact in postseason. Stevens expects Sbisa will help the Flyers in the playoffs. Jones admitted this week he has no initial burst of acceleration and his partner, Andrew Alberts, said he has to be more stationary in the defensive zone to avoid getting caught in a position where he canít maneuver well.
