Here's something I posted back in October:
"As we all know, the Bruins finished last season 0-7-1 against the Habs and finished 8th in the East. What's interesting are these numbers:
Records against the rest of the league
Montreal 40-25-9, 89 points
Boston 41-22-11, 93 points
Montreal went into the playoffs as Stanley Cup contendors while we went in as jokes that were going to get rolled. I realize that I'm getting into ifs and buts and it's time to move on but if not for our struggles against Montreal, we could've easily snagged home ice in the first round.
I think at the very least it gives a glimpse into just how good we can be. No need to even mention being Bergeron, Kobasew and Fernandezless (just did).
Even if the Bruins would have won a mere three games against the Habs and finished a poor 3-5-0 against them:
Montreal 45-28-9, 99 points
Boston 44-27-11, 99 points
That's right, we could've hovered around the 100 point mark and contended for first in the Eastern Conference."
