His big payday will come, but not if he can't play a full year without spending time on LTIR.
As for where he will go, it will probably be where he can play more of a scoring role. Lemaire's system choked him off in that regard (Gaborik constantly complained he wanted to play more offense). Atlanta plays an offensively open system, for example, and Gaborik would thrive in it. Whether or not the cheap owners will buy in remains to be seen.
Someone will sign him to a deal thats equal or more than his current contract of 7.5M. Its not an issue of what he can do its an issue of will he stay healthy and some team will take a chance and not make him take a paycut.
