I don't use adhesive spray but if you don't want to replace your tap job after every game or practice, you may as well use it. What happens is that when you take a shot or receive a pass, the puck will dig into the tape and rip it. When you tape heel to toe or toe to heel, you usually pull it tight and this happens still, but not as often. The adhesive spray will hold it all together so when it would normally rip, the friction gradient is too tough to overcome and it doesn't rip.

I'll take a few pictures of my blades if you guys want me to, just to show you the rate of 'chew' on the blade.
