Edmonton/San Jose

To Edmonton:

Joe Thornton
Brad Lukowich
Conditional 3rd Round pick 2010 if Penner surpasses 60 points

To San Jose:

Jordan Eberle
2nd Round Pick, 2009
Dustin Penner
Jeff Petry/Riley Nash (choose one)
Rights to Linus Omark

-Edmonton needs a complementary player to Ales Hemsky, and Jumbo Joe adds size and soft hands to Edmonton's first line. IMO the key to a playoff birth is igniting Ales, and Thornton would be a great fit.

-Tambellini wants to get bigger, and Lukowich is a solid stay-at-home dman

-San Jose is a team that lacks size up front, and Penner brings that to the table, and it wouldn't be surprising AT ALL to see him increase his point production with the Sharks under Todd McLellan

-The Sharks don't have a great farm system, and Eberle is a goal-scorer who needs just a year or two before becoming a regular in the NHL. Won't be a Superstar, but should get 25-40 goals and 60-80 points in his prime IMO

-Both Petry and Nash are solid prospects, Nash being more of a two-way threat. Petry, like Eberle was a Top75 prospect in a poll conducted by THN

-We've all seen the goals Linus Omark has scored in Europe. Even though he's under contract in the KHL for the next couple of seasons, he's still an asset and he still could come to North America
