I would have agreed with all the things you said last year even if he was starting to become that player then too. But Scuds have been immense this year. We're talking about a defender who doesn't get any points and he led our team in plus/minus even if we have two guys scoring 100+, and we're now at a point where Alex Ovechkin actively does all he can to switch sides to get away from him and Boudreau makes that a match-up priority.

We cannot think that Lovejoy will bring that kind of specialist ability right off the bat, even if I think he will come to be a very serviceable player for us too down the line.
