Not being ready for the start of the season is one thing, not being ready to play until Feb (at the earliest) is quite another.

The Ranger brass is playing this right. There's nothing to do but wait and hope for the best. However, the clock is clearly ticking on Blackburn's Ranger career. The one saving grace is (assuming) that the lockout is settled by the start of next season and Blackburn does recover well enough to begin to play at a high level before the end of this season (big assumptions both but) the Ranger "rebuild" would not be set back by Blackburn returning to the NHL as the Rangers backup.
