I think the initial problem starts with having a "learn to play hockey" program for that diverse of an age group. Your kid should be in learn to skate/hockey and his kid should be playing in an organized Mite house league. Shame on the on ice coaches who arent noticing this stuff. I coached my son's Mite team this year and there are always kids that joke around and bump a bit, but when it gets too much it is easy to notice and even easier to put a stop to it.

I think what you did to the other parent was the right thing--parent comment and all. You have to hope it made him look at himself in the mirror and maybe changes the way he parents in the future.
