Always thought Fedorov was the consummate professional who was, unfortunately, on the downside of his career.
Victim of the MacLean hype machine, and those who listened to it, more than anything else, in my opinion.
I used to torment my sister by teasing Fedorov for being old and slow at times, but I never mistook that for a lack of heart.
I don't blame players for their paychecks unless they
dog it after having one great contract-year season. Fedorov wasn't worth what he was paid while with the Jackets, but he didn't put a gun to a GM's head, back in the day, to get the contract.
I thought the team missed Fedorov's play after he was gone. We've never had a plethora of puck carriers, and he was one of the few. He was also great at making the first pass, calming the game down, and so on. If we expected him to never age, that was our own fault.
