I stumbled onto this post and topic late, but I want to say one thing:

In our town (Sydney, Australia) "sports rage" by parents is never permitted or tolerated:

you sit in the stand, watch the game, and shut up.

If you don't, "there's the door!"

And I'm glad to say that, all around Australia, this firm approach is increasingly becoming the prevalent attitude towards parents taking their kids sporting activities too seriously.

.... if only I had a dollar for everytime I've said, "we aren't playing for the Stanley Cup!"
