It's all the more reason we should all be hoping that one of Blackburn, Lundqvist, or Montoya turns out to be a franchise starter -- think of the edge it would give the Rangers.

I don't doubt that one of these guys is franchise material in the traditional sense, but will the league make certain adjustments that begin to seperate those franchise guys from the so called solid goaltender... i dont forsee it happening, not in a league where goalie pads are like buicks, catching gloves are like lacrosse nets... so many whistles slowing down the pace, and of course the general mugging skill players must endure just to find open ice... goaltending is the position i would worry least about right now for all of those reasons..
