One more thing to keep in mind is that cutting a stick down increases its stiffness. If you buy an 87 flex and you cut it, the stick will be stiffer.

My Easton stick has markings at the top indicating where to cut to get a certain stiffness. It's a 100 flex but I believe its marked to be cut down to a 116. I assume that cutting it any lower compromises the stick's integrity.
