While surgery has not been ruled out for Sbisa, it would be a decision to be made by the Ducks. Both Sbisa and Flyers GM Paul Holmgren said the injury will not be a factor on the trade for Pronger going through.
“No,” Holmgren said, when asked whether Sbisa’s groin injury could have an affect on the trade. “I’ve talked to [Ducks Executive VP and GM] Bob Murray and we did not consider it an issue.
“We knew there was a little bit of an issue that we were going to check out. They are aware of it and I am sure they are going to check it out.”
Sbisa originally didn’t tell the Flyers organization about the injury, which he sustained during preseason in 2008, for fear that it would decrease his likelihood of making the team.
“I just wanted to make the team no matter what,” Sbisa said. “It would come and go during the whole season. It would be bad for three-to-four days but it would be good for another month. It was always like that.
