Cape Breton goaltender Martin Houle chosen CHL player of the week

TORONTO (CP) - Cape Breton Screaming Eagles goaltender Martin Houle has been named the Canadian Hockey League's player of the week after posting a 1.00 goals-against average, a .964 save percentage, a shutout and two victories.

Houle, a 19-year-old draft pick of the Philadelphia Flyers, stopped 34 shots in a 1-0 victory over Shawinigan on Oct. 16 and followed that up with 20 stops in a 3-2 road win over Gatineau on Sunday.

Houle edged forward Patrick O'Sullivan of the OHL's Mississauga IceDogs and forward Wacey Rabbitt of the WHL's Saskatoon Blades for the honour.
