Charity Ball Hockey Tournament in Barrie, ON - August Long Weekend

The Barrie Ball Hockey Club is celebrating 15 years with a "celebrating the game" weekend on July 31-August 2, 2009. The centerpiece of this weekend will be charity ball hockey tournament raising funds for "Hockey Night in Barrie" in support of the Royal Victoria Hospital's Regional Cancer Care Centre.

The tournament will include three eight-team youth divisions - Junior (Ages 9-11), Intermediate (12-14), and Senior (15-17). This tournament is open to all of our summer GUTS teams as well as individuals and teams from other cities and leagues. There are also Men's, Women's, and "Jack & Jill" (co-ed) divisions.

In the youth divisions, Each team will play three round-robin games, after which each division will split into an "A" pool with the top four teams, and a "B" pool with the remaining four. All eight teams will play in semi-final match-ups, with the winners moving on to a championship game for each pool.

This is an excellent opportunity to raise some money for a good cause and have some fun playing ball hockey on a summer long weekend. This will be a big event for the club, with skills competitions, music, refreshments and fun!

Players do not have to be currently registered at the Club. Outside teams from other cities or clubs are welcome to join in our celebration!

Every player who raises $50 will receive a pair of tickets to "Hockey Night in Barrie" on Thursday, August 13th. The top eight youth fund raisers will get the chance to go into the dressing room before the game to meet the current and past NHL stars playing in the game. The player who raises the most money will get to drop the puck in the game's ceremonial face-off!
