I would definitely recommend Gurren Lagann and Lucky Star right off the bat.
Neon Genesis Evangelion is a classic, but also a mind job. Although the "rebuild" movies the director is making right now will make it less of a mind job. lol
I haven't seen Berserk.

I too have not seen Berserk, but I definitely know and heard of Lucky Star, Gurren Lagann, and Neon Genesis Evangelion. I have seen bits of each, but haven't gotten around to either (so time consuming watching series per series

). I will get to those three eventually (probably Lucky Star first).
Anime I have watched somewhat recently off the top of my head:
Cross Game
Full Metal Panic
Full Metal Alchemist
Ichigo 100%
Jungle wa Itsumo Hale nochi Guu
Love Hina
Onegai Teacher
Onegai Twins
Ouran High School Host Club
Dragonball
Appleseed
Cowboy Bebop
Ghost in the Shell
Ones that I am due to watch soon:
Eureka 7
Lucky Star
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya
Neon Genesis Evangelion
Samurai 7
And that's all I can think of at the moment

My favorite series so far being Full Metal Panic with Alchemist being a very close second. I always watch them in the original Japanese too (their voice actors are just so much more convincing than ours and I am a literate person so...). Currently reading the manga: Full Metal Panic Overload!

Yeah, it is a pretty fun job. I get in for free obviously, everything is paid for as well, get to see all the main events (a prog ops perk as our office overlooks the stage), check out all the crazy cosplayers, and I meet a lot of people in the industry. I meet all kinds of Japanese celebrities who, of course, I know nothing about and are just normal people to me, but it is interesting meeting them. The one highlight for me and the only person Americans would recognize was meeting Seth Green due to the expo having a Robot Chicken panel this year. That was interesting and fun. Boy that dude is short... Much shorter than I expected him to be lol.

I'll have to check that one out as well...
