Who suggested otherwise? A lot of guys, as you suggest, are not worth the big bucks. But if you are putting Chris Pronger in the same category as Turgeon, Joseph, etc., you and I simply value players much differently.
Separately, Pronger just turned 30 earlier this month! As a point of comparison, Scott Stevens and Chris Chelios, at age 40+, are better than a majority of NHL dmen today. Elite talents, especially among dman, typically have long shelf-lives in the NHL. A team getting Pronger today would rightly be counting on getting upwards of
a productive decade
