This thread caught my eye, usually I don't browse around 'The Rink' section, but I figured I'd share my experience with this with you.
I can't remember the exact date, but it was between September and November of '06 that I tore my rotator cuff playing Football. My shoulder dislocated, and it kind of clicked back in when I got up. I took about a week off until I felt 'alright' again, and went back to playing hockey and football with my highschool's teams. I think that's what made mine so worse - I reinjured it several times after that to the point where it would dislocate from bumps or even occassionally if I was taking my shirt off.
I ended up going to see a specialist, and then having the surgery done (for reference, it was a arthroscopic left shoulder stabilization, I think). The recovery time was very, very long, actually. I had 6 - 8 weeks in a sling, and then months of physiotherapy. To this day, my shoulder is still not 100% and I can feel it when lifting things that are moderately heavy and haven't played hockey or football competitively since, unfortunately.
Are you having surgery on it?
