Cody Franson, due to their success patrolling the Vancouver blueline together a couple of seasons ago.

Answered, I think Jamie Benn from Kelowna (who is a Dallas prospect turning pro this year too)

Asked immediately after braindead's question...yes, there is a friendship there from their time together in juniors and obviously a competition for a roster spot within the organization, but realistically both want the best for each other...which would hopefully mean both making the NHL and having success at that level.

First question asked, pretty much what I expected for an answer. His coach (presumably at the travel level) was a WHL alumnus, but most importantly due to the lack of recruiting in the Western US (very true) the WHL provided the best opportunity for him to advance by giving him an opportunity to compete at a younger point in his career, provided him with a 72 game schedule and daily practices (similar to professional schedule), etc. Doesn't have any regrets - nor should he...

Second part of the question omitted, but answered Carrie Underwood due to her both her vocal and physical talent(s).

A couple other questions asked from e-mail that I don't recall. A very good interview that I'd recommend listening to if it is archived, also interviewed former Predators defenseman Bob Boughner (coaching Ryan Ellis with the Windsor Spitfires) immediately prior.

Blum agreed with the hosts that he is through with junior hockey and will be embarking on his rookie season at the pro level this year. Sounded very excited to get into camp, knew about the rookie scrimmages with Atlanta prior to main camp and said it would be a lot of fun going up against Vancouver teammate and Atlanta draftee Evander Kane during the week.

Mentioned his experience as captain of this season's U.S. WJC team as a highlight of his season and a tremendous experience, also captained Vancouver to their highest regular season point total in franchise history (despite falling in the third round of the playoffs) as a bonding experience for the team and something that he is very proud of.

A young man who has experienced horrific tragedy with the loss of his twin sister and endured his mother's fight with cancer, only to exceed expectations at every level thus far in his career...I really think we have a solid person that'll make a positive impact in our organization for season's to come.
