You were essentially right SSJ in the first place, only some people need to have it posted in full detail, even though you were only trying to provide a little humour...

JFJ traded a 1st and 2nd round picks in 2007 and 4th in 2009 for Toskala and Bell.

June 22, 2007:

To Toronto Maple Leafs: Vesa Toskala and Mark Bell

To San Jose Sharks : 13th overall pick in 2007 (traded to St. Louis for 1st round pick in 2007, Logan Couture) the 44th overall pick in 2007 (traded to St. Louis) and the 4th round pick in 2009

Then San Jose immediately turned around and traded our former picks 1st (#13) and 2nd (#44) rounders to STL for the #9 overall, so they could draft Logan Couture.

So your humourous post mocking JFJ, was factually correct in that SJ got a top 10 pick from Leafs as a result of the Toskala trade. Only difference is it took another step to combine our two picks for that TOP 10..Still came at our expense no matter how you slice it. Leafs could just as easily have traded our 1st and 2nd round picks first to STL for a Top 10 pick and then traded that pick to San Jose for Toskala and it would have had the same net end effect.

Maybe toss a line into your original post where Doug Wilson puts JFJ on hold, while he confirms with St Louis that they will take Leafs two top picks for their 1st rounder at #9 before making the deal. That should get the heat off your tail..
