Is Schneider any slower then Ohlund though? I doubt it. At any rate it's most likely roughly a lateral move in the foot-speed department. Yah, we could use an improvement in that area for sure, but it looks like the defense is just going to have to tighten up - they've done it before. Schneider would give us an improvement in the puck-carrying and transition portion of the game on top of a booming slapshot.
The place we'll miss Ohlund the most is definitely on the PK. He rode shotgun PK duty along with Mitchell last year, and was fourth on the Canucks in shorthanded ice-time after...you guessed it: Mitchell, Kesler, and Burrows.
Edler was sheltered on the PK last year with Salo, Mitchell, and Ohlund shouldering a lot of the short-handed duty.
We'll need Edler, Bieksa, and to a lesser extent O'Brien to step up and cover those minutes.
