McLaren is a project, theres no way around that.

Why he failed his physical when he was going to be traded to the Flyers who knows.

He didnt play in the NHL all of last year, but hes not old by any means at 32...

Sather loves these projects, especially when they will come cheap considering the cap mess hes in. He can really throw the body and if he shows up in good shape i see no reason to believe the guy cant play bottom pairing minutes on this team while 2 or 3 rookies cut their teeth in and around his spot in the meantime for one year.

I've been saying all along they need a veteran blueliner in here, maybe its McLaren. He definitely has the size and "jam" Tortorella likes out of the backend. At one point the guy was a pretty darn good defenseman, and one that had the ability to shut down the opposition power forwards. We'll see. Its definitely worth a look though.
