Here's how it breaks down for me

Hannan: good durable defensive defender, overpaid
Hejduk: good defensively first line winger, upcoming UFA
Tucker: worthless bag of trash. Wait... expensive $2M bag of trash

Nylander: good second line centre, overpaid
Pothier: good but not great, paid quite highly
Clark: upgrade over Tucker, again good but not great
Fleichman: untapped potential, could be a good player

If the Avs were in 10th in the west last year after a rash of injuries and barely missed the playoffs maybe they do this to shake things up.

As it is they are making moves that dont improve the team in the short run and is no guarantee to improve the team in the long run. It's a quality for quantity trade. I'd rather they just signed Hejduk to a new deal.
