although I believe there had been speculation since Kondratiev came to Hartford that he would not be staying. Tyutin was a surprise, but it is an opportunity to further his development. Right now, Russia may be the closest to an NHL-caliber league with the existing players and the influx of NHLers. It's a great opportunity for Tyutin, and a great honor for him to be asked to play. And the Rangers aren't fighting it because it is a step-up for them, and it makes room for others (perhaps they've seen Liffiton or Taylor play and feel they are ready for the AHL).
