I'm not sure what you aren't understanding.

The Flyers ABSOLUTELY can, and if they feel they need to be relieved of his salary, ABSOLUTELY will waive Jones and stick him in the minors if need be.

There is NOTHING that will prevent them from doing that. If someone doesn't want Jones at his salary (which is what you are suggesting) he will clear waivers. The Flyers will then stick him in the minors, and pay him his big salary to play in the AHL. It sucks for him, but it's the way it is.They have done it with Gauthier and they will do it again.
