If he's healthy he will be a vital part of this team. It makes no sense not to play him because he might get injured, he'd be less useful that way than if he missed 30 games and played the other 50 full-time.
I don't see what the problem with relying on Connolly is. He's a really good player, but if he gets injured for a long period of time he's still helping your team more if he's just not on the team. Based on the center options available in free agency I'd gladly take Connolly.
