Chicago's one of the teams that needs to deal away NHL talent for cap reasons AND has stockpiled a surplus of it by signing overpriced free agents while simultaneously stockpiling draft picks and hitting homers with the picks. Halak and SK both fit into Chicago's tight-cap scenarios, and would probably do well there. But they're not worth Cam Barker. Not even close. However, the thing Chicago most needs is to get rid of salary, the sooner the better, and since the habs just suddenly gained 5.75 million in cap room, there is a real fit between the orgs for a deal. Having Gomez pretty much means we can't take Campbell. It would be an organizational disaster.

It'll never happen but, boy I'd love to find a way to pry Cam Barker out of there. Full credit to McGuire for targeting a guy you'd still be ecstatic to have after Markov comes back.
