I know that he still lives in the US with his family, participates in the Red Wings public events (Cup ceremony, raising of banners, etc.). His locker is still intact in the locker room, and it goes without saying that new players can't take his #16, it's unofficially retired if you will. From what I heard the Red Wings haven't abandoned him, they are helping out with his rehabilitation. He hasn't recovered all that much though, still uses the wheelchair, his balance and movements are very shaky. It's pretty sad, he was a true hockey warrior and now he can barely walk...
