that isn't what was said, what WAS said is that moreau's value to edmonton is so crucially important is that lowe likely wouldn't trade him even for handzus. in terms of value of hockey players of course we know moreau isn't worth handzus, but in moreau we have a guy that is like a captain there (if smith wasn't the actual C), signed long term, signed a fairly cheap deal b/c he likes edmonton, all those good things weight promised to do (cheap shot at weight - check )

now if lowe were to all of a sudden trade a guy that wanted to be there b/c of getting a better player (in some regards), then what message does that send to guys like smith, staios, smyth etc.. who signed b/c they liked edmonton and wanted to be there, and as well to future oilers and current young oilers. "why should i feel secure in edmonton if i sign a good deal b/c i like it here, lowe could just trade me anyway", that could potentially hurt the oilers more down the line than passing on handzus for moreau

there would be more to it than simply this one for one trade
