Like you said, AM never dresses an enforcer, so with out Lappy, Avery is all we have. That's part of what makes him so valuable; he is the heir apparent. That is just another reason why he won't be traded unless the offer is top notch; the team obviously felt that he was good enough to let Lappy pretty much walk. And if watch the Kings, you know how valuable Lappy has been to the team.
Lappy will be missed in so many ways, mostly off of the ice. His leadership, positivity and community involvment are unparralled.

However, Jeff Cowan will be able to step into his on-ice duties and perform just as well. He doesn't have the "retirement contract" that Lappy wanted, and he doesn't have the concussion issues that Ian has to deal with. Lappy is unfortunately one good hit away from retirement at this point.
