Anyway long story short, one of the guys who comes to the games w/me in my tix when I have extras went to this and got to BS w/Slats about various things as they drank beers and bowled and he asked him specificly about Blackie who I've been beating the "he'll return and be a top end goalie down the road" drum about but Slats said to him that Blackburn has suffered PERMANENT nerve damage and that he doubts he'll ever be able to recover to play at the NHl level.
While I was buying the "best player available" stuff in regards to the Montoya selection it is becoming more clear that the NYR brass didn't expect Blackie to be able to recover from this tragic injury which robbed both the kid and us of what would've been a very bright NHL career.
Here's to hoping Blackie makes some sort of miracle recovery but which each passing day it seems that the injury is permanent and that he won't be able to overcome it.
I think its gooing to come down to Blackburn beeing out ītill after this christmas and then making a comeback. If it works it works. One of his mucles in the shoulder wonīt work 100%, probably never will. I donīt know all the specifics, but Iīve heard that he has some strength in all parts of the shoulder. Iīve had some nerve problems in the shoulder area, but I only noticed it when I was dooing chins. Some times I completely loosed the grip with my right arm, it went "num" for a split second. Not funny if you had 100lbs on a weight belt... However I never once felt it when I played hockey.
