Does anyone think that if the NHL gave

UFA status after age 24, that the players association would accept a hard cap. Although there maybe less total dollars, a player could make as much over his career because he would be a UFA 5 years earlier. That would allow teams 6 years to hold onto a prospect.
I wonder what small market teams and fans would say about that!

There has to be some middle ground and this maybe appealing to the NHLPA.
