There's a few reasons why the Hawks would make a deal like this. First being that they need to shed salary if they intend on retaining Toews, Kane, Keith, Ladd, etc. Secondly, bringing in Hiller (at a dirt cheap price) would allow them to move Huet -- again shedding salary. And to top it all off, Huet has been a disaster in his playoff career.
1st) 4 or 5 games? I think you should see Huet's numbers since the lockout. They look a lot like his numbers do today.
2nd) Ask any caps fan how Huet did for them in the playoffs. he WAS the reason they made them in the 1st place and did a graet job of keeping games close once there.
3rd) Lets track Hillers last 4 or 5 seasons to make sure he is no flash in the pan ... oops can't.
4th) Hiller needs to be resigned at years end. Will be looking for big money while owning a pedigree no shinier than Huet's.
5th) You want the Hawks to give up a good young D prospect for a CHANCE at improving in goalie?
6th) You then want them to give up more assets to move a big contact or eat the dollars in the AHL.

Value wise the trade is fairly decent but you look only at your teams needs. Chicago has no need for Hiller.
