It is more of that I am siding with whatever side Bettman is not on. I understand that the league needs to have a true partnership between players and owners. But seemingly Bettman is just interested in union-busting and ensuring that all owners are profitable. There is nothing in his proposal that addresses the real problems of the league. He is just saying that player salaries are the root of all evil.
But what really gets me about him is that all of this is just an attempt to cover up his (Bettman's) blunders. 9 effin' new markets in 10 years? And he has the audacity to blame the league losses on nothing but player salaries? That right there is an attempt to cover up his own catastrophic mistakes. How about you start with contracting no less than 6 teams that have no chance at being profitable if you had a $15m cap, and then see where the league economics are. How about you actually have revenue sharing that ALL other sports have? Not just teh top 10 teams funding the rest of the league or the playoff teams funding the rest of the league.
