Eminger is basically in the same postion as we need to keep our dmen, not trade them pretty sure if you called McPhee and asked if Eminger was available, you would hear a click and then a dial tone

Zubrus MIGHT have the season everyone is hoping for, he's underachieved on a talent level but he's becoming a real two-way force for WAS...I think he's expendable if the caps absolutely need to go out and get a top 3 dmen...people are starting panic now but we'll see whats going down after 15 games

We have already have a player like comrie in McPhee has shown he has no problem in not giving into contract demands for holdout theory comrie might not even be in a caps sweater by then end of october if he were to holdout

Smith would be a gold mine for the caps if they could accquire him
1. Sutherby is publicaly projected by McPhee as a future team captain.
Doing that and trading him is almost as bad as trading the Captain which is a rare thing.
2. Eminger played vital roles in winning WJC and Memorial cup teams in addition to being about ready to contribute at the NHL level. If he is ready to play regular minutes, he is already as good as Staios.
3. Zubrus is already delivering at his salary level. When you add the widely held thinking throughout the NHL that Zubrus has all the tools to be an 80 pt plus 2 way power forward he is untradeable. He is a $1.6m player that could contribute this season at a $5m level. He plays first line, first pp unit, 2nd pk unit. Those are 3 untradeable players. Untradeable unless you have a package of players of equal value both in terms of skill and contact status. Doesn't Comrie already make $3m plus? Isn't he a RFA that is holding out and demanding a trade? Why would the Caps trade 3 players that make less then $4m for an unhappy and unsigned player? Zubrus held out last year and didn't find his game til halfway. Nikolishin held out and was traded to chicago last year and missed a good number of games with an injury. Halpern held out the year before and then blew out his knee. That Caps have all 3 of those guys happy and in camp all three playing very well so far. McPhee would never trade those guys for a holdout player.
Is that enough reasons that it won't happen?
