I'm not going to argue that Lang isn't overpaid, he is, but while Comrie's base salary was around $1 mil last season, with all the bonuses he met he actually made $3.5 mil last season. There is no way he is going to sign a contract that is going to pay him much less than what he made last season. If you think you are going to get him to sign a 3 year deal at $2 mil per season, you are dreaming, unless there are bonuses included that are fairly easy to meet that would get him the extra $1-1.5 mil. Plus every player who misses training camp and preseason takes a long time to get up to speed, so his first half season with whatever team trades for him is likely going to be a wash anyway.
If you want us to take one of your contract problems then you have to be willing to take one of ours in return, it's as simple as that. If you can afford to pay Smith $2.3 and Comrie $3.5, then you can afford to pay Lang $5, and you also get Doig who makes almost nothing.
