On the subject, girdles were created to allow more mobility then pants. They're elastic and pads that hugs your body. Cooperalls were the original, and they're still sold as the bauer supreme. Pants at that time were quite basic, uncomfortable and restrictive. They're not anymore. Now it's jsut a question of feel, and some pants are blurring the line, such as the 9k and Eastons' motion pro pant (Or at least one of the easton top end pants- Might be the top stealth)

Pants do tend to be more protective, but that's not at all a hard rule.

I would just stick with pants if you're not sure. If you have the opportunity to try them on though, do that first.
