Good thread, way overdue. I've stopped answering the "where are all the wild fans" questions about 5 years ago. They inevitably pop up in just about every thread, we'll see if this here helps.

And yes, Minnesota is a unique hockey market. Grassroots hockey is king here, with the NHL taking the back seat. And while the Wild has a lot of fans and sells out every game, most people here don't give a rat's arse about what's going on around the league. They care about their kids' teams, their beer league teams, high school hockey, Gophers [St. Cloud, Mankato, Duluth, whatever], Wild - usually in that order. Ask somebody about last year's high school state tournament, and you get a half-hour monologue. Ask somebody about Ovechkin's latest suspension, and you get a blank stare.
