McCarty's a much better scorer...
than Murray. McCarty did score 55 goals one season in juniors.
Murray does have energy, is willing to sacrafice his body (to the point of recklessness at times) and will stick up for his teammates. Unfortunately, he can't put the biscuit in the basket which may ultimately limit the amount of ice time he gets (RE: fourth line at best). From what I've seen, he does have the skill. He can handle the puck. He can shoot, and is willing to shoot. He just can't score for some reason. And while scoring isn't the most important trait of a third liner, if a player's going to be out there for more than 10 minutes, no doubt the opposition will be scoring some, so you'd expect it from them too.
Ortmeyer too...you'd have him out there killing penalties and taking a shift on a fourth line, getting limited ice time. But when talking about Ortmeyer, Murray and Helminen, and you might as well add Hollweg and perhaps Moore, you're talking about role players for which there are few spots on the big club. They're depth players, for the most part.
