I voted Carter b/c I'm getting a bad feeling that Pleks is going to test UFAgency if we don't move him, and then we won't be able to match what some team will throw at him.

if that is the case, then a deal with philly around halak/plekanec and Carter seems feasible enough. Carter is a great young player, with 2 more years left on a decent deal (then RFA again). He hasn't hit his ceiling yet, and could, in those two years, break out into a the upper echelon of elite players... that mix of potential and current ability would go along way to soothe the frustration of watching a player as good as Plekanec walking away just as he hits his prime (because our management team can't figure out how to lock young guys up BEFORE they break out).

If we are keeping Pleks, then I'd be ecstatic if we found a way to turn Gomez into Lecavalier or Carter... but i doubt that going to happen.

If gomez is staying, we can forget about kovalchuk.

Boyes isn't the answer to our problems, and would not make us better enough to justify what it would take to get him.
