Personally I think he has 1st line potential, time will tell.
I think people are waaaaaaaaaay overanalyzing Clarke's comments.
My guess is that he knows he's on TV where all the "normal" fans watch, so he's cautious of setting expectations too high - thus setting these kids up for the Poti treatment if they don't immediately start performing as first liners when they see their first ice at MSG. At other times, he's been much more effusive in praise, but not when speaking to NY area cameras.
