So what are the criteria for Americans getting drafted? Nick Ebert is at the top of the list. He's a D-man playing in the USHL. He's doing OK there, not setting the world on fire. Another projected top 10 kid, Jacob Trouba, is a D man playing midget minor AAA at Compuware and is also doing OK. That's a HUGE difference in playing levels (Junior A vs 16UAAA midget minor) and yet these two guys are both talked about in the same round. They are D-men and good players, and they might have made it clear that they are set on the OHL instead of the NCAA, or their advisors (agents?) know someone who knows someone who has a friend in the business, but it's really tough to reconcile that disparity.
