Seems reasonable, assuming Liles seems on pace to replace Skoula on the team. The kicker is that you are trading tried and true talent in Milan. But, like we learned in the Morris trade, you need to give up talent to get talent. Luongo, based on sheer potential alone, is worth Hejduk, IMO.
The economics of the trade are what concern me the most. Next season (or the year after, if a lock out goes into effect), the Avs could be way over whatever a proposed cap would be. If there is no "grandfathering" of teams into an agreement, the Avs will be forced to chop off some depth. Hejduk is in line for a raise to about 5-6 mil a year, based on his performance. Depending on whether the Avs are able to keep Foppa, Selanne, and Kariya, as well as Blake and Sakic contracts, the Avs are sure to be over whatever cap limit is imposed. This trade would spread the depth around, as well as save some cash.
Not even close to worth it for the Avalanche. Hejduk is a very rare type of scorer. Good goaltenders are much easier to find than 50 goal guys.
