I think that is the difference between hammer and lidstrom - consistency. Hammer has the same amount of skill as lidstrom and yet has never been mentioned as a norris type player. It could be that he makes it look too easy sometimes.
Hamrlik does not have Lidstrom's consistency, that is true. But, I would also argue that he doens't have Lidstrom's talent. Lidstrom is an awesome skater and he doesn't seem to loose much in his stride or timing when he is actually carrying the puck. Hamrlik is a very good defensemen on most night, and an excellent one on some. However, Lidstrom is world class.
Man, do I ever miss Oleg Kvasha. If Oleg was here, everything would be OK.
